Hello there,

Nice site you've got going here. Since I enjoyed it so much, I thought I'd upload some game music of my own. Maybe one day we can create the ultimate collection of all game music!

Anyway, I've got a few questions regarding uploading. Basically- how does it work? Do I just upload all tracks in a .Zip, .Rar, etc file via a file hosting website, post the link, and then an admin adds it to the main site? I see there might be a bit of a waiting list. Also, should I password the uploads?

Are there any restrictions on file format for the tracks themselves? All my tracks would be extracted ("Ripped?") from my games, and are normally .wav, .mp3, .ogg and some with their own special format which would need a special codec or player. What about those files?

Hallo and Wellcome!

We are here very benevolent, therefore:

1) Upload your file on whatever file sharing server, but we recommend these servers - but its not rule, only recommendation

2) Better is upload of all files in one (or more because of size) archive. Type of archive is not "ordered", but recommended is archive, that can open everyone everywhere (ZIP, RAR) on most OS (Win, Lin, Mac)

3) Password is not important, but if you want, you can add password in your uploaded files - BUT you may not forgot add password on your post!

4) If you upload your file somewhere, you'll go to Download Links section on this forum and write NewTopic, where you write some information, link and password (if it present). If you can, better is adding more informationsuch as size of uploaded file a type of file, size and duration of individual audio files, type of these files - and better than better is info about bitrate and etc. If you don't know, how can you take this information, try program named Music NFO Builder - but this prg. does not support OGG Vorbis

5) With adding to the main site is little problem, because capacity of your server is not "inflatable" - all about these is in Swordfish's hands smile.gif

6) You can upload all types of music, but recommended is "widespread" formats as MP3, (my preffered biggrin.gif) OGG, maybe WMA - simply all, that can be played on most portable players. (On computer you can play everything, but players is little limited wink.gif )

- my opinion is, that you upload WAV, it will be better, if you convert it to other format (eg. MP3) and than upload both - WAV and MP3 - but its "difficult" on time and connection (WAV is "little" more huge format!)
- if your music is in special format and need special codec or player, I recommend the same

And finally - if you adding some your upload, please, add in title name of game and, if you can, file format [MP3], [OGG]... / for better overview.

I hope that I answered all your questions - and we will looking forward your uploads.

PS: Uff - excuse my "perfect" English biggrin.gif

Thanks- I think that summed up everything.

I'll get to uploading some music soon! For any tracks I might need to convert- do you recommend any (free) programs?
MartinezZ
Question is frow what file format?

I'm using Easy CD-DA Extractor - it can convert almost everything, but its not free.
If you have some special file formats, so for this exist, maybe, some special "method" or programs to convert.

For basic file formats you can try:

LameDropXPd - for convert to MP3

OGGDropXPd - for convert to OGG/from OGG to WAV

...but its not for all...

EDIT:

You can also try this website: http://media-convert.com/ - its not testet by me

I like to use GoldWave to convert my files between mp3, WAV, WMA, OGG, and FLAC. Plus, there's many other formats I've never even heard of before. You can even do Batch Processing for selected files or an entire folder and add effects to all the files such as changing the volume, tweaking the equalizer, etc. This program is actually not free; however, their "trial" is unlimited (fully functioning and never-ending). You can read more details about the program here.

IMPORTANT: You also need the LAME plug-in if you want to convert to and from mp3. Simply download and open the zip file to extract the lame_enc.dll file. Copy the lame_enc.dll file into the folder where GoldWave is installed (usually C:\Program Files\GoldWave) or copy it into the C:\Windows\System (or equivalent) folder.

Hope this helps!

Question: In which format is your music now?
Equus Dios
I have a few albums I ripped in FLAC (lossless), but the majority of my music is in mp3 format. It either came that way, or I converted it to save space.
Ebb0r
Can you post a list of your gamerips? I would appreciate it!
Equus Dios
I mostly collect movie scores, so I don't really have much in the way of game soundtracks that I didn't get from this site before the main part got shut down, but here's a list of what I have:

Advent Rising
Age of Conan
Age of Empires III
Age of Mythology
Alone in the Dark
Castlevania
Civilization IV
Elder Scrolls III & IV
Eve Online
Fable
Final Fantasy I, II, III, IV, VIII
Freedom Fighters
God of War I & II
Guild Wars Eye of the North
Guild Wars Special Edition
Halo
Halo 2 Vol 1
Halo 2 Vol 2
Halo 3
Jade Empire
Left Behind - Eternal Forces
Lord of the Rings Online
Myst I, II, III, IV, V and Uru
Prey Volume 1 & 2
Titan Quest
Tom Salta Compilation (Tracks from Cold Fear, Full Auto 2 Battlelines, Need for Speed Underground 2, Red Steel, Still Life, and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 2)
Video Games Live Volume 1
WoW Burning Crusade
WoW Collector's Edition
Ebb0r
I'm interested in Prey 2, WoW collectors edition and I'm curious about the EVE online score. I have a direct game rip, which one is yours? looking for the OST.
Equus Dios
Yeah, I just have the game rip too for Eve Online.

I think both the Prey soundtracks are meant to go together. I haven't really had a chance to listen to it yet and I'm not familiar with the game. It's just titled Prey Music from the Video Game Volume 1 & 2. I can also post a track listing if need be. Let me know if you're still interested and I'll get that uploaded for you too.

WoW is in FLAC (lossless). I can convert it to mp3 for you before I upload it, if you want (otherwise, it's going to be a huge file well over 400 MB). Let me know about that too and I'll get on this first thing tomorrow. But for now, I've been up all night and it's after 6 AM where I'm at...time to sleep.
Ebb0r
if you could, please post the tracklist of the WoW OST, because it may be that i have the same one.
