Platform: This song only exists on the Playstation 1 version
Composer: Justin Scharvona
Publisher: Fox Interactive

Hey guys, I've been looking all over for a nice high-quality version of the theme used on level 1-6 ("Darkness Descends"). Unfortunately, because this song was only used on the PS1 version of the game, the track is extremely rare/hard to find on the internet. If anyone could go through the trouble to get a near-perfect-quality file of the song to me, they will have made my day.
Thanks :>)

Wait, Croc isn't up yet here?
I'll look into it...
I was going to up it myself anyway.

Thanks! I was finally able to find a pretty good game-rip of it on my own, but compared to the PC version music I've found, the quality was still far from what I wanted...

So...I've been doing a little digging.
Turns out that the PS version had the best soundtrack.
(the music was present on the CDs for all platforms,
but only PS played all in-game)

Damn...I used to have a rip of my own, but it got lost.
Curse my sister for ruining the CD... angry.gif

If you still have the PS1 CD, however, try asking Barnaby,
he might help you with ripping. I can only offer the soundtrack
I found on the internet.

If my memory is correct, I've read somewhere that Croc was released for the PC before the PS1 ... so it makes sense why the first version of the game would have less musical variety...
It's actually funny how I started the search for the song. As a kid, the third Game Boy Color game to come into my posession was Croc. Even at that age, I thought the game's music was really cool, and because I have such a memory for music in general, those 8-bit tunes never left my head. It wasn't until I was older that I learned from a friend that Croc originated in the world of 3D platforming on the PC. I didn't look into it very much until I decided to see if anyone had posted the 8-bit tunes from the Game Boy Color game on YouTube. Instead of finding the Game Boy music, I ran into tracks from the PC and PS1 versions. Turns out the Game Boy themes actually originated on CD! It was amazing to be hearing fully arranged versions after all that time...
So yeah, thanks anyway! :>)
I don't own any version other than GBC...

*edit*

BTW, I mixed two similar tracks together for a neat blend between 8-bit sounds and PC red book audio; check it out with the YouTube link here:

Hey, that's pretty neat..!
Terrific job.

I fell in love with the music the first time I played the PC demo, aaages ago
and I still consider it one of my favourites (btw.I like "be wheely careful" the best).

There was even supposed to be a Sega Saturn version, but I never heard of it, until yesterday...
beanDude
Thanks! :>)
Whenever there's multiple versions of a game song, I always find it fun to throw them both into Audacity and hear them mixed together...
"Be Wheely Careful" is a good one too...
Croc is a great example of a game where the music really helps define it. Justin Scharvona is no exception to the vast amount of unique writers of memorable game music. His stuff for both Croc games remains pretty simple and sometimes repetetive, but at the same time pleasing to the ear even after multiple hearings...
